So far, I've read only a little, but it seems to cover a little more than the essentials listed in the Pentax book that comes with the camera. This book also fits nicely in the camera bag in the top compartment that is too small for the Pentax book.
This book is helpful. However it could have been organized substantially better and been more inclusive. It does not eliminate the need for the Pentax Operating Manual. You need both volumes.
It offers easy to find (and read) sections, in-depth notes and a plastic quick-reference card that you can carry in your pocket. This guide to using the Pentax K20D camera is a great tool. I already have this guide bookmarked and highlighted. I keep it in my photo bag for quick reference. You might think that it is just another owner's manual, but it actually is a guide and tip book. It has replaced my need to get on the internet to find answers on how to use my camera properly - it's just right there in my camera kit. The book is a real time saver for me.
This book is very thorough, it is what a Photographer needs to knowwhen purchaseing a Dslr. There are some things you will notuse. On the whole I would reccomend this book befor before useingthis Camera. Thanks Tom Brown
I purchased Peter Burian's book on a whim. I've been locked into the Pentax SLR system for going on 40 years. The Pentax ist*D was the worst so it was with trepidation that I upgraded to the K20D. True, the manual is complete and quite adequate, however it volunteers nothing. The book tells you what the camera can do, and how--and when--to make full use of all of its many features. After hard use for almost a year, I cans say: 1.
It is well written and a pleasure to read. Some Pentaxes were good, some not so good. Despite the quibbles of some of the reviewers, I found it to be an excellent companion to the camera. the K20D is a superb camera and that 2. I am delighted with mine. It provides a brief review of photography written with the K20D's capabilities in mind.
Recommended.
